Paediatric Critical Care
The Department of Paediatric Critical Care Medicine at our Hospital provides complete intensive care services for Paediatric Patients from Birth to Adolescence. The Intensive Care Units provide maximum supervision and support for patients who are at risk, or suffering from, acute life-threatening conditions. The unit is staffed by full-time Paediatric Intensivists working in cooperation with other Physicians as well as specially trained Nurses, Respiratory Therapists and Paramedics.
The Paediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU) at Mar Sleeva Medicity Palai is a 11 bedded state of the art facility, well equipped to care for children suffering from a broad range of Critical Medical Disorders, Severe Trauma and requiring Major Surgeries. All forms of Respiratory Support and Renal Replacement Therapies are utilized within the PICU for Neonates, Children and Adolescents with Organ Failure. Care for Neonatal and Paediatric Surgery Patients is also provided for in the PICU.
The Department also houses a High Dependency Unit (HDU) to provide care for Patients who require close observation and monitoring. As part of our goal of continuum care, we provide coordination with all Medical and Surgical Specialties. In addition to Ventilatory Support, effort is also concentrated on providing Nutritional, Psychosocial care and Physical Therapy during prolonged hospitalization.
