Palliative care services (St. Alphonsa Palliative Care) at Mar Sleeva Medicity Palai aims to provide relief from pain and other distressing symptoms; intends neither to hasten or postpone death; integrates the psychological and spiritual aspects of patient care; offers a support system to help patients live as actively as possible till the end of life or a death with dignity. We give “Extra Care” during the remaining days and not to leave them counting days. Not only do we focus on providing comfort care to the terminally ill but also provide a ecosystem of total care – physical, psychological, social and spiritual care. We offer support systems to families that are affected and are coping with their own bereavement during the patient’s illness. Our focus and approach is one that improves the quality of life of both patients and their families.
We have a dedicated 10 bedded ward for patients requiring palliative care, along with individual rooms on demand.
Home Care is an integral and noble part of palliative services of Mar Sleeva Medicity Palai. We bring a personal touch to the home delivery process, which truly is comforting from the care receiver’s point of view. Our home care team consists of a palliative specialist doctor, trained nurses and social worker/volunteer groups in association with various parishes of the Diocese of Palai. The home care team is like a considerate friend who is from the medical field and is present to help people at their homes for no material returns. We also have volunteer groups who actively participate in patient needs.
We practice an integrated approach in both home care and inpatient care, where the primary treating consultants is constantly informed so that the best possible health care can be provided.
