Dr. Roy completed his MBBS from Kerala University in 1976. He then did his MD in Psychiatry from PGIMER, Chandigarh in 1984. He did his DPM from Madurai Medical College and MAMS from National Academy of Medical Sciences, New Delhi. He was elected as International Distinguished fellow for the American Psychiatric Association at San Francisco in 2013.
