Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation

The Department of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation at Mar Sleeva Medicity Palai is among the most comprehensive rehabilitation centres in Kottayam, caring for patients recovering from stroke, spinal cord and brain injury, amputation, burns, cancer and major surgery. Because the department sits within a full multi-speciality hospital, rehabilitation begins at the bedside in the ICU and wards, often within days of admission, and continues through to outpatient recovery rather than starting only after discharge.

Four specialities work to a single shared plan for each patient: physiatry, physiotherapy, speech and language therapy, and occupational therapy. A consultant-led team manages complex needs that a standalone therapy centre cannot, from spasticity and interventional pain procedures to prosthetic rehabilitation, dysphagia management and burns recovery. For patients across Palai, Kottayam and the surrounding region, it means advanced, coordinated rehabilitation care in Kottayam, available close to home.
