      What is Palliative Oncology and Pain Clinic

      Palliative oncology aims at providing, integrated total care for patients with cancer, with main focus on relieving cancer related symptoms including pain and improves quality of life of these patients. Our palliative oncology team works with the oncology team in providing comprehensive personalized care for our patients.

      Our team is comprised of experienced doctors, specially trained oncology nurses and social workers.  The team aims at giving care for physical, social and psychological well being for our patients with support of family friends and loved ones

      • Interventional pain management:
        • Stellate ganglion block- for head and neck cancer pain and facial pain
        • Intercostal nerve block- For relief of patients with pain due to advanced chest wall, upper abdomen cancers
        • Coeliac plexus block- for pain relief of patients with pain due to pancreatic or Stomach cancer
        • Hypogastric nerve block- for pain relief of patients with pain due to advanced cervix, rectum, prostate, and testes cancers
        • Chemical lumbar Sympathectomy- For pelvic pain/ tenesmus due to rectal cancers
        • Splanchnic nerve block- for pain relief of patients with  pancreatic or stomach cancer
        • Peripheral Nerve block – for pain relief of patients with upper or lower limb pain
        • Paravertebral nerve block- For cancer-related thoracic pain
        • Musculoskeltal Pain relief using electrotherapy  and Trigger point injections

      • Home care with trained oncology palliative nurse for Community Based Palliative Care- Facilities for ascitic tapping, ryles tube insertion, wound dressing, and  Foleys catheterization
      • Providing  basic  supportive  items for continuous care at home

      • Training for the care givers
      • Rehabilitation programs- in coordination with physical medicine and rehabilitation department
