What is Onco Rehabilitation?

The Onco Rehabilitation aims at providing Rehabilitative services for cancer patients while on treatment and follow up. It helps our patients to cope up with complications due to surgery, radiotherapy, chemotherapy or other therapies. The clinic is headed by the Department of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation and works in close collaboration with the Oncology team to help in rehabilitative activities & maximise outcome and improve quality of life. The clinic provides various services so that quality of life can be improved in these patients and they can lead a near normal life.

Scope of Services

Customized therapy focusing on strength, endurance, flexibility & range of motion
Gait training
Swallowing Assessment & retraining- For patients with head and neck cancer with the aim of avoiding aspiration and starting oral feeding at the earliest
Speech therapy- For patients with head and neck cancer and abnormal speech due to cancer
Preventive speech and swallowing exercises for radiotherapy patients
Rehabilitation of cardiopulmonary dysfunction
Training for activities of daily living and Occupational Therapy
Lymphedema management – MLD (Manual Lymphatic Drainage) + bandaging (complete decongestive therapy) for breast cancer and other cancer patients with Lymphedema
Pneumatic compression device for patients with patients with Lymphedema
Pharmacological therapy for pain
Trigger point injections for Musculoskeletal pains
Pain relief (musculoskeletal pain) – using electrotherapy
Orthotic Management including supportive splints & modified footwear
Prosthesis (artificial limb) prescription & Amputee rehabilitation

Yes, pharmacy services are available round the clock on premises.

We are located at Cherpunkal, Pala, Kottayam Dist, Kerala. You may also choose to search us on Google maps as Mar Sleeva Medicity Palai.

Usually our hospital visiting time is 7.00 AM to 8.00 AM and 5.00 PM to 7.00 PM from Monday to Saturday and Sundays 12.00 Noon to 1.00 PM and 5.00 PM to 7.00 PM. Currently, visitors are restricted due to Covid 19 pandemic situation.
