Air Cmde (Dr) Pauline Babu, an expert in Plastic, Reconstructive and Aesthetic surgeries at Mar Sleeva Medicity Palai, is an alumnus of Government Medical College Kottayam who then joined Defense Services. She put on military uniform in Indian Air Force in 1993. She did her specialization and super-specialization in Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery from the prestigious Armed Forces Medical College Pune. As a Plastic & Reconstructive Surgeon, she has been posted in various military hospitals pan India. She is the only Lady Plastic Surgeon in the Armed Forces so far. Besides several path breaking surgeries in military set up and heading Surgical Departments in various hospitals, she has Commanded Air Force Hospital Gorakhpur and has held multiple administrative posts. For her meritorious services, she was awarded Commendation by Chief of Air Staff.
Post retirement, on 01 June 2022, she joined Mar Sleeva Medicity as Senior Consultant in Plastic Surgery, and was then appointed as Chief of Medical Services in September 2022 besides her professional duties. She is among the best women plastic surgeons in Kerala.
Over a career spanning 33 years, she has obtained substantial expertise in clinical plastic surgery, cosmetic and aesthetic procedures, military trauma care, disaster management, hospital administration, teaching, and quality assurance programs. She has received specialized training in cleft surgeries and micro-neurovascular procedures, and is also an ATLS provider and certified microteaching medical person.
