Admission Guidelines - Allied Health Science Diploma Courses
Mar Sleeva Institute of Health Sciences and Research, Palai, an initiative of Mar Sleeva Medicity Palai (under the Pala Diocesan Medical Educational Trust - PDMET), offers Allied Health Science Diploma Courses affiliated with the Directorate of Medical Education (DME) and the Diploma in Ayurveda Therapist Course affiliated with the Directorate of Ayurveda Medical Education (DAME), Government of Kerala. These programmes provide specialised training, equipping students with the skills needed for essential healthcare roles.

I. Admission Process

a. Academic Qualification
(i) For Diploma in Respiratory Technology (D Resp.T), Diploma in Dialysis Technology (DDT), and Diploma in Central Sterile Supply Technology (DCSST):

• Candidates must have passed the Higher Secondary Examination conducted by the Board of Higher Secondary Education, Kerala, or an equivalent examination, with a minimum of 50% marks in aggregate for Physics, Chemistry, and Biology. A relaxation of 5% in marks is granted for SC/ST candidates.
• Candidates who have completed the VHSE (Vocational Higher Secondary Education) with at least 50% marks in aggregate for Physics, Chemistry, and Biology are also eligible. SC/ST candidates are eligible for a 5% relaxation in marks.

(ii) For Diploma in Ayurveda Therapist Course:

• Candidates must have passed the Higher Secondary Examination (Plus Two) conducted by the Board of Higher Secondary Education, Kerala, or an equivalent examination, in any stream.
• Candidates who have completed the VHSE (Vocational Higher Secondary Education) in any stream are also eligible.

b. Seat Allocation

• As per the directives of the Government of Kerala, 50% of the total seats shall be filled under the Government Quota and 50% of the total seats shall be filled under the Management Quota, for each of the above diploma courses.

c. Government Quota (Merit-Based Admission)

• Eligible candidates will be allotted seats through the centralised allotment process conducted by LBS Centre for Science and Technology, as per the norms of the Government of Kerala.
• Candidates must meet the eligibility criteria specified by the concerned regulatory bodies.

d. Management Quota

• Selection of candidates will be based on marks obtained in the qualifying examination, the entrance test, and the interview conducted by Mar Sleeva Medicity Palai.
• Candidates must present their original certificates for verification during the interview.
• The decision of the admission committee at Mar Sleeva Medicity Palai shall be final.

e. Nativity Criteria

• Only Indian citizens of Kerala origin are eligible for admission, as per the guidelines issued by the Government of Kerala.

f. Age Limit

• All applicants shall have completed 17 years of age as on the date of notification. The upper age limit for Service candidates is 49 years; there is no upper age limit for General candidates.

II. Course Discontinuation Policy

• Candidates who discontinue the course after the Government of Kerala's officially notified cut-off date for admissions shall be liable to pay a compensation amount equivalent to the tuition fees for the remaining duration of the course.
• This policy ensures that seats are not wasted and that resources are effectively utilised in the best interest of the institution and students.

III. Medical Fitness Requirement

• All selected candidates must undergo a mandatory medical examination at Mar Sleeva Medicity Palai, including routine blood tests and a general health check-up conducted by the hospital's clinical team.
• Admission shall be subject to medical clearance as per the institution's health and safety standards.

IV. Anti-Ragging Policy
Mar Sleeva Institute of Health Sciences and Research maintains a strict zero-tolerance policy towards ragging, in accordance with the Kerala Prohibition of Ragging Act, 1998, the directives of the Hon'ble Supreme Court of India, and UGC regulations. Ragging in any form, within the campus or hostels, is strictly prohibited and will invite stringent disciplinary action, including suspension, rustication, or expulsion, besides applicable legal action. All students, along with their parents/guardians, are required to submit a mandatory anti-ragging undertaking at the time of admission. An Anti-Ragging Committee and Anti-Ragging Squad, supported by a 24/7 helpline and anonymous complaint mechanisms, are in place to prevent, monitor, and redress any incidents of ragging.
