An established Centre of Excellence, now in a new home
The Centre of Excellence in Renal Sciences at Mar Sleeva Medicity Palai is an integrated programme that brings the Departments of Nephrology and Urology together to deliver complete care for kidney and urinary conditions. The centre has now moved to a new, advanced facility, giving its established kidney care programme an upgraded space in which the medical and surgical sides of kidney care continue to work as a single expert team, with a patient's diagnosis, treatment and transplant care coordinated in one place in Kottayam.
Blessing of the new facility
The new facility of the Centre of Excellence in Renal Sciences was blessed by His Excellency Mar Joseph Kallarangatt, Bishop of the Eparchy of Palai, marking the relocation of the centre to its upgraded home.
A leading kidney transplant programme
At the heart of the centre is one of the most active kidney transplant programmes in Central Kerala, with more than 150 successful kidney transplants completed. The programme unites the strengths of nephrology and urology as one team, and covers the full journey of a transplant patient.

The urology side handles the surgical care of the kidneys and urinary tract. It offers advanced stone treatment through laser lithotripsy, RIRS, PCNL and ureteroscopy, precision laser and keyhole prostate surgery, and uro oncology for cancers of the kidney, bladder, prostate and testis, alongside reconstructive, paediatric and female urology and treatment for male infertility.
